Antonio Marras
Born in Sardinia, he is much more than a fashion designer: he is an artist who sends down the runway creations inspired by the love for his island and the blend of emphasis and understatement that is his trademark

Antonio Marras is not just a fashion designer, but a multifaceted artist: he is inspired by fashion, but goes much farther. He was born in 1961 in Sardinia, in his beloved Alghero, where he grew up getting familiar with the textiles in his father Efisio’s shop (to whom he dedicated a collection, years later). It is not hard to imagine Antonio as a kid, his big, curious eyes, busy looking at all the colors and touching the textures, breathing in the smell of the textiles. His first encounter with fashion occurred almost by coincidence. When his father passed away Antonio started managing the family stores and it was precisely a clothing company that invited him to create his first collection. Marras started designing ready-to-wear creating, in 1987, Piano piano dolce Carlotta, as a homage to the eponymous film by Robert Aldrich.
