Polar bear, 2019 at Maggi Hambling’s new exhibition at Marlborough Gallery, where she has a solo exhibition to coinciding with her 75th birthday, featuring recent paintings responding to the seismic events of the present, works include a new series of self-portraits created in lockdown, a series depicting wild animals facing threat and intimate portraits of people laughing.
